Safari GX comes fitted with Ultrasonic Reverse Guide System, for reverse assist to driver. It has an easy to see indicator mounted on the inner rear view mirror which not only shows the distance of any obstacle in digits but also indicates it diagrammatically along with a warning beep.

The 2010 Toyota Corolla is a car with two different personalities: There's the base model for budget-conscious buyers and the sporty Corolla XRS for those after a little flair. Comparing both models with their prime rival. 

The base Corolla falls a little short in the performance and styling departments. The XRS does a better job, especially when it comes to power and handling, but loses out to the competition on price.

While the current Corolla is much more attractive than previous generations, one of the car's biggest drawbacks remains its inability to excite the visual senses.  Upgrade to the premium XRS model and you get a 2.4-liter four-banger with 158 horsepower on tap. This engine is happy to rev, and a sweet shifting six-speed automatic is available as an option. When matched with the standard five-speed manual, the Corolla XRS will sprint from 0-60 mph in around eight seconds—not exactly scintillating performance but enough to raise the heart rate. Fuel economy is hardly impressive, at 22/30 mpg.

SPECIFICATION

The Standard, LE and XLE models will be equipped with an all-new 1.8-liter engine. The 16-valve, DOHC four-cylinder engine with Dual VVT-i (Variable Valve Timing with intelligence), produces 132 hp at 6,000 rpm and 128 lb-ft of torque at 4,400 rpm. Corolla models equipped with the 1.8-liter engine will achieve preliminary EPA city/highway fuel economy ratings of 27/35 mpg.

A five-speed manual transmission is standard with the 1.8-liter engine, and a four-speed automatic Electronically Controlled Transmission (ECT) will also be available. For those who crave just a bit more horsepower and torque, there is the 2.4-liter engine. This engine is completely redesigned for use in the new Corolla XRS grade. The 16-valve DOHC engine with VVT-i produces 158 hp at 6,000 rpm and 162 lb-ft of torque at 4,000 rpm. Preliminary EPA city/highway fuel economy for the 2.4-liter engine is 22/30 mpg. The 2.4-liter engine will be paired with standard five-speed manual and optional five-speed automatic transmissions.

Volkswagen had definitely set, their own sister concern, the Skoda Superb as a benchmark, as far as the ride and handling of the Passat is concerned. Being built on the same platform means that the Passat has to more or less better its dynamic abilities to shadow that of the Superb. The 2011 Volkswagen Passat in India has an all absorbing ride quality unlike the Superb which sometimes is caught off guard by road irregularities. Throw whatever roads at it, the Passat swallows them whole. Build quality is typical Volkswagen and not one panel looks out of place. It is this very quality which would stand out for the life of this car. What has improved significantly is the handling of this car. While the old model felt a bit apprehensive around corners, the newer one is more or less like the Superb. It attacks corners with a new found gusto, though not exactly in the same ball park as the Superb but yes, there is better agility.

Auto major, Volkswagen has announced that it will launch its new Sports Utility Vehicle, Volkswagen Touareg 2011 in the Indian market by the end of this year 

VolksWagen Touareg is a big size SUV but is 208 kilograms lighter than the earlier model. It has wider sitting bumper and the headlamps give it a soft appealing exterior. Apart from the changes in the looks the new model is faster and fuel efficient.

The company claims that SUV is 20% more fuel efficient than its earlier model. It incorporates remarkable transmission options with an eight-speed automatic transmission along with a six speed tiptronic box.

The SUV has 4Motion all-wheel drive and advanced Stop-start technology along with a host of electronic features which helps handling of the SUV on and off the road.

The Volkswagen Touareg will come to India as a completely built unit (CBU) just like the Porsche Cayenne SUV and the Audi Q7 with which it shares a platform.  According to some reports, it will be priced between Rs 30 lakh and Rs 45 lakh on Indian roads.  We know that figure is hardly accurate, we are just reporting what we have heard.  We have heard crazier figures, so the only thing we can be sure about at this point is that the Volkswagen Touareg will be priced below the Porsche Cayenne and the Audi Q7.

As far as performance goes, the Volkswagen Touraeg does a 0 to 60 mph (96 kmph) run in 8.7 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 209 kmph (in the US version).  We do not know whether they would be an electronically limited to speak for the Indian version of the Touareg 3.0 TDI. Permanent AWD would be available too.

In pure technological sophistication, the Volkswagen Touareg will be extremely close to the Porsche Cayenne (Don’t forgive that it is a petrol SUV). The 3000cc Touareg is reasonably fuel efficient, very torquey, quiet inside, luxurious and extremely safe – it earned five stars in every NHTSA safety test except for a 4-star rating in the rollover test.

India’s largest car maker Maruti Suzuki is expected to launch its ultra low cost car Maruti Cervo by December 2010 to compete with Tata Nano and other upcoming ultra low cost cars from other car manufacturers like Bajaj.
Maruti 800 revolutionized the small car industry in India when it was launched in 1984 and more than 25 lakh Maruti 800 cars sold so far. Now Maruti Alto replaced 800’s position –even though it is priced little high and with more features compared to 800, Alto is top selling models now.
But Tata Nano created a new segment where Maruti doesn’t have any product to match the price tag. Now Maruti is going to fill that space with Maruti Cervo which is going to be priced to suit this segment.
Maruti Suzuki has not officially disclosed the pricing and other details about Cervo but here is the expected features and pricing details.

Honda showcased the CBF stunner concept at the Auto Expo and since then the enthusiasm of bike lovers have raised anticapting its launch. Now, Honda Bikes India has come up with the Fi variant of CBF Stunner.

The new stunner Fi pumps out 11bhp of peak power and 11Nm of peak torque which is almost same in comparison to the non-fi version. Honda CBF Stunner Fi has been priced at Rs64,700 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The initial installed capacity of the plant was 30,000 cars per annum, which was thereafter increased to 50,000 cars on a two-shift basis. The capacity has further been enhanced to 1,00,000 units annually in February 2008 . The capacity expansion was necessitated by the excellent performance of all the Honda models, particularly the growing demand for City in India. Several modifications were done by the company with the objective of offering higher quality products to its customers, faster and quicker. The expansion process also included expansion of the covered area in the plant, from 1,07,000 m². to 1,31,794 m².
